COUNTRY STAR BRADY SEALS LAUNCHES NEW BUSINESS VENTURE

“MUSIC CITY PICKERS” SEEKS VINTAGE INSTRUMENTS TO BUY

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — April 27, 2011 — Capitalizing on his love and vast knowledge of musical instruments, #1 hit singer/songwriter Brady Seals has teamed with former Gibson Guitars web editor Gabriel Hernandez to launch  Music City Pickers – a company specializing in the buying and reselling of vintage musical instruments. Music City Pickers makes it first stop in Mason, Ohio, on May 20 through May 22, looking for old guitars, basses, banjos, mandolins, violins, amplifiers, and keyboards – including everything from companies such as Gibson, Fender, Martin, Gretsch, PRS, Taylor, Harmony, Yamaha and Ephiphone, among many others.

Music City Pickers offers a convenient and easy way for owners to sell their vintage instruments without the hassle of “do-it-yourself” online auction sites or the inconvenience of placing ads and having people come to their homes. It’s comprised of two reputable and knowledgeable music professionals offering fair prices based on actual market value. Sellers will deal directly with the two men who started the company and not low-level commissioned salespeople. It’s a one-stop shop that allows sellers to walk out the door with cash in hand. Seals and Hernandez have been in the business of music for a long time which means sellers can feel confident about sharing their stories, making a connection and leaving feeling good about selling their instruments to people who appreciate it and its value.

DATE:     Friday, May 20 through Sunday, May 22

LOCATION:  Comfort Suites (5457 Kings Center Drive, Mason, 45040), Ph: (513) 336-9000

TIME:             9:00 am – 6:00 pm daily

What initially started as a hobby for both Seals and Hernandez grew into an investment opportunity for the two friends when they teamed together combining years of experience and passion for the art of making music. Each has stories of their ultimate “picks” including a 1968 Martin D-28 acoustic on which Seals wrote several signature songs (“Amy’s Back in Austin” and “Hillbillies (Love It In the Hay)”) and a very rare 1964 Fender Vibroverb amp that Hernandez bought on a whim when purchasing two guitars a few years back.  While the Martin won’t be leaving Brady’s side anytime soon, Hernandez found a home for the rare Fender amp by selling it to a prominent collector in Pennsylvania; it was the only amp he needed to complete what is arguably to the world’s largest collection of Fender amplifiers.

“We’re the middlemen,” says Seals. “We’ll shoot straight with you, tell you the market value for your instrument and then make a fair offer where both Music City Pickers and the seller feel good about the purchase. This is a tough economy and if you need some money in your pocket and have an instrument you want to part with, come on out and show us what you’ve got. We’ll do the leg work to put that instrument in the hands of someone who will appreciate it. No hassle, no bull.”

Noted Nashville luthier Ed Beavers will also be on hand to lend his 30+ years of experience to help properly evaluate those instruments that may be in need of repair or restoration.

ABOUT MUSIC CITY PICKERS:
Based in Nashville, Tennessee, Music City Pickers is the creation of country music superstar Brady Seals (of Little Texas and Hot Apple Pie fame) and former Gibson® Guitars’ web editor Gabe Hernandez.  The two met while researching the history of a guitar that Seals owned and became fast friends, bonding over their appreciation for vintage musical instruments.  Seals and Hernandez are out to make Music City Pickers the world’s No. 1 trading destination for the buying and selling of fretted musical instruments specializing in vintage acoustic and electric guitars, basses, mandolins, resonators and banjos, but also including vintage electronic pianos and keyboards, old saxophones and trumpets, vintage European accordions and old harmonicas.  They’ll provide fair pricing, vast expertise and an easy and safe environment in which to sell instruments.

ABOUT BRADY SEALS:
A guitarist since the age of nine, Brady Seals comes from an impressive musical lineage; he’s the cousin of Jim Seals (Seals & Crofts) and “England Dan” Seals, and the nephew of Nashville songwriting legend Troy Seals. From early on, Seals’ incredible talent was undeniable and after leaving his Ohio home at 16 as a touring musician, by 21 he had scored three #1 hits with the multi-platinum country band Little Texas—all of which he’d co-written, winning him the ASCAP Triple Play award.  He went on to release three solo albums in the late Nineties before forming and fronting the quartet of player’s players known as Hot Apple Pie, with whom he scored the top 20 hit “Hillbillies.”  After releasing his successful solo album, Play Time, in 2009, Seals teamed up with former Gibson Guitars’ web editor Gabe Hernandez to launch Music City Pickers.

ABOUT GABRIEL HERNANDEZ:
Music City Pickers co-founder Gabriel (Gabe) Hernandez has been a  collector and player of musical instruments most of his life. It’s a hobby and passion he’s nurtured through a storied and impressive career outside the music business.  After graduating with a degree in journalism, Hernandez embarked on a successful writing career that involved top newspapers, a publishing company and several business newsletters. His ability and drive propelled each publication to new and well respected heights within their respective industries.  Hernandez’s foray into marketing yielded equally stunning results. His efforts helped lead a sports memorabilia company into the top 10 of Trading Card Magazine’s â€śTop 20 U.S. Dealers” ranking multiple times. His family’s automotive business saw expansion and financial growth under his marketing leadership. But music continued to call to him and in 2006, Hernandez joined Gibson Guitars national headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, as Web Editor, responsible for the creation and management of all online marketing content for the music giant.  The struggling economy generated massive layoffs within the company and Hernandez used the opportunity to put his massive skill set to use as co-founder, along with country superstar Brady Seals, of Music City Pickers.
