Nashville, TN – Kix Brooks, half of the super-duo Brooks & Dunn, is setting his trademark cowboy boots aside to help U.S. Servicemen and women returning from combat.  He is the featured celebrity this week at www.bootcampaign.com.

The boots are part of a national initiative called the Boot Campaign.  The Campaign’s motto is, “When They Come Back, We Give Back.”   Proceeds from every pair of boots sold through the Boot Campaign go to charities that help military members and their families cope with physical injuries and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.   The Boot Campaign’s goal is to see one million Americans sporting a pair of “Give Back” boots.

Five Texas women – known as the Boot Girls – launched the Boot Campaign in 2009 after reading a book called The Lone Survivor.  The book chronicles the story of Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell who was the lone survivor of a mission to capture a Taliban leader in the mountains of Afghanistan.  In 2010, Luttrell started The Lone Survivor Foundation, now one of the charities that benefits from the Boot Campaign.

Brooks joins an impressive roster of celebrities from all entertainment mediums and genres who have donned “Give Back” boots.  Other celebrities include former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman, Texas Governor Rick Perry and fellow country stars Dolly Parton, Charlie Daniels and Gretchen Wilson to name a few.

Brooks currently hosts American Country Countdown, an internationally syndicated radio show that counts down the top 30 country songs each week.  For two decades, he was half of  Brooks & Dunn, the highest selling duo in country music history.  The duo sold more than 30 million records, scored 23 number one hits and won an impressive 80 major music industry awards.

Kix Brooks serves on the boards of the Country Music Association and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
